Who is David Gilks?

Hi – David Gilks here.  Welcome! and thanks for checking out my home on the web.

Well, to introduce myself: I’m from Perth, Western Australia. It’s a great place to call home despite being one of the most remote cities on earth. Have a look at Perth on the map if you don’t know where it is.

I’ve worked as a professional in the Information Technology industry for well over ten years, mainly in enterprise software development and architecture. Years ago when I was at school, my career goal was to become a professional earning a good income. So, I guess you could say I made it and achieved my dream.

The trouble was … I wasn’t really enjoying most of what I was doing at work. There always so much new technology to learn just to keep pace in the IT industry and I sure didn’t like working extra hours in the evenings and weekends – I would much prefer to be hanging out with my family & friends – generally enjoying life, doing the things I want to do.

Actually, before I decided to take the professional corporate path, I wanted to be a Marine Biologist. I gave up on this dream because I could earn more as an IT professional. Some of my most fond childhood memories are of fishing with my dad and family holidays up the coast of Western Australia, so I’ve long held a love for the ocean. I now enjoy Scuba Diving which has opened up a whole new world to me.

David Looks for a Better Path

I was looking for way to get my life back but I didn’t know what to do. I now had a family to support and a mortgage to pay so I couldn’t just leave my job and start a new career. I thought it would take years of study to develop the experience & expertise to match my current income.

One day I was talking to a friend from work, a guy who I consider one of the best software engineers I’ve ever known, and he was outlining his plans to leave the corporate world and concentrate his efforts on Internet marketing, particularly Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and MLM or Network Marketing.

I loved the Network Marketing business model and after checking out the company, I knew this was what I had been looking for. I joined my friends business as a rep and got started.

I felt as though the Internet marketing stuff was too hard at the time and I thought I could build the business the old traditional way – talking to family, friends and people I met in day to day life.  After all, that’s how the other leaders had successfully build their business’s.  How hard could it be?

Unfortunately, none of  my family & friends were as excited as I was and I was stuck with no one else to talk to and my business ground to a halt.

My friend, on the other hand, had been concentrating on Internet marketing and SEO and man was I jealous about how much his business had grown.

The Internet – Business Tool of the 21st Century

I started learning how I could using the Internet to build my business and make money fast. I gained some incredible skills on how to use the Internet to it’s fullest potential, and I found my home in an awesome group of like minded individuals – our Mastermind Partner Program.
