I’ve been trying, on and off, for about six months to record some decent videos to give my website a more personal feel and to lift my branding to the next level.
I could never seem to get the words to come out right. I would forget what I was going to say, and I would have 15 takes or more of the video and still not get it right.
Now I’m not someone to give up easily (persistence is a virtue I hold in high regard), so I kept looking for a solution.
I couldn’t find an easy way to make me into a charismatic newsreader professional, but I did get some great advice from Andrea Goodsaid that inspired me to take up her 30 Day Video Challenge.
My goal with the challenge was simply to get comfortable in front of the camera so that when I want to record a promotional video for my blog or one of my primary companies, I can do so easily.
I aim to captivate peoples attention instead of compelling them to hit the dreaded Back button of the browser.
I wasn’t really comfortable with people seeing the videos of this challenge, therefore I published them to a new account I created on Viddler (hoping that no one would ever find them) instead of my YouTube account and made them private viewing only.
What happened next took me by surprise … Andrea asked if she could share them with the Mastermind Partner Program (MPP) and I said yes (why not? I thought).
My videos then inspired a bunch of others (including Theresa Key, Vitoria Castro, Kim Smith, Raena Lynn and Merna Welke) from the MPP to take up the 30 day video challenge as well, but they made their videos public and published on their blogs.
I’ve now published my challenge video’s as well, for if they have the courage to do it so can I. Check em out on my Viddler account, and leave a comment or vote on it if you like it … or even if you think it’s not too bad.
These are in reverse order; you’ll see the latest at the top.

Hi David,
Wow! David you are an inspiration. Your accent is awesome and I like the way you changed the locations with each video. You come across as very sincere and after watching you I really need to get over my fears and jump in. I’ve told Andrea Goodsaid since I started that I didn’t want to tape videos. It is such a strange concept, and I tried, but quite frankly I decided it was something I didn’t want to do. The truth is I will have to just “get over it” and do it. I’m much older than you and my generation didn’t have cell phones and instant videos everywhere. However, at the same time I must say that “my generation” is certainly jumping on board in social media.
Thank you very much for your courage. You will do fantastic and it’s great to have a techie in the group:)

Thanks Raena. I was so uncomfortable doing this, but I know that I need to get good at video to achieve my goals and that can only be achieved through practice and training.

Heh heh that’s it David – don’t let a bunch of girls do it and still think you can’t – grin
Braver soul than I though – mine are tucked carefully way on a viddler account and then behind an optin to boot.
Apparently they were just waiting for you to discover them so that you could inspire the rest – everything happens perfectly and in its own time, eh?
I really really appreciate you!
You’re an awesome part of our Mastermind.

Thanks Andrea
I have to hand the credit back to you; without your coaching I would still be flailing around, wondering why I can’t get my business going

Video 8 – Positive thinking. We’ve got to talk to our unconscious mind, be really clear and let it work for us. You go Napoleon Hill!
Isn’t this video challenge/growing/thinking/ great?
Love & light.

That’s right Vitoria. The power of how we think, and what we focus on is really the secret of success.
